Renovation begins!

Started my lawn renovation today! Sprayed round up over the whole area, getting my soil test results from logans lab tomorrow. May get some top soil brought in after I harrow and level the lawn. Will continue to update as time goes on

Tell us a little more about where you're located, why you're renovating, what you're seeding and what your goals are.

Location is South Georgia, the lawn was in fairly bad shape all kinds of weeds, and different grasses. So far I'm leaning more to a centipede/carpet grass mixture they recommend from a local farm supply store, but depending on the soil test results I may have to look into different options. Far as goals I just want a nice looking lawn not really expecting a show quality green

I may have asked this on another thread, but what is carpet grass? There are many grasses called carpet grass, and they all have different characteristics, so we sort of need to know what that means in your area.

The only information I have in the carpet grass, the farm that's selling the centipede seed says that the carpet grass will establish quicker and help retain water will the centipede germinates

Here's the tag on the grass seed I planned on using.

    Good luck with your reno!

Axonopus affinis. That stuff is definitely a weed in my lawn. I have seen it but not for very long when it goes up against St Augustine. Centipede has a reputation for being fairly aggressive, so it should take over if that's how you go. We don't have a lot of centipede owners here in this forum.

It's been a month since I started my renovation. I sprayed the whole lawn and waited a week for the round up to work and started watering. I've had a lot of what looks like morning glory to pop up and maybe some annual rye grass.

Well done. Now those weeds won't be in your renovation.

Just did my third round of round up. Hope fully this will be the last one before I can seed. While I'm waiting, I plan on renting a pole saw and trimming these trees up to let some more light in. Not to worried about the centipede growing all the way up to the trees because we're going to add mulch beds.

one electric pole saw down! Looking a little better two trees down three to go.
