Is shelf height fixed?

I would like to know whether the height at which the shelves are shown can be adjusted. Also, is this piece delivered assembled or would it require me to assemble it? Many thanks.

    I did not ask the thickness of the shelves. I need to know the width of the openings, all three. Thank you. I need to know if stereo components will fit.

    The shelves are adjustable, you can remove/ adjust one if needed.

    Please...that does not answer my question at all? Why is this so difficult? I need to know how wide the openings are. I need to know if my components will fit. I already knew the shelves are adjustable, that tells me nothing about the width of the opening. Pretend there is no shelf in there at all. What is the width of the opening?
