I believe you need a rug with a bit more color as your sectional, walls and rug are all similar or same. If you are using red accents then try something to tie in to that. If you are changing the red then tie in to the color you are changing it to for the area rug.

I would also consider drapery panels, and IMO the white shades were not the best choice for the room.
