I am curious what people do, and expect when they use certain terms, oh and yes I know about the Container Gardening site and I am not interested in discussing 5-1-1 or the Gritty mix, that has been done to death....

I'll start with what I have in my thinking..

#1 Potting Soil: a mix of peat/coir with perlite or less commonly vermiculite or sand

#2 Potting Mix: similar to Potting Soil but with added compost, bark etc.

#3 "420 Gardening mix" - Potting Mix which has every organic gardeners dream added in (e.g. Ocean Forest)

#4 Soil based mix: Any mix of above which contains some garden soil (loam preferred ?)

#5 Re-Mixed Potting soil: Use old potting mix combined with new ingredients like fine bark and compost.

#6 anything I missed ?

For starting seeds I am using #2, and for Pots outside I have been doing #2 and #5. All outside pots are watered automatically by 'spot spitters' and I have a fertigation system using Miracle grow or similar.

I did try something like #4 a long time ago, but the pots don't drain after a while.

I am growing tomatoes in growbags for the first time - and using something like #3 for the first time as well. I ran out of nematode free ground.
