I would check whether viburnum beetles are an issue in your area before ordering this. Cranberry bush viburnums are particularly susceptible to damage from this pest, so if it is an issue, you will want to learn how to manage it if you still want these bushes.

I would highly recommend Classic Viburnums in Nebraska. As Barb said, if the beetle is a problem, you may want a different option. The folks there are really great to work with. I had a spot in my garden that "needed" a viburnum since I favor them so, and they worked with me through email for quite some time, until with their help I narrowed down my selection. The shrub arrived in great condition and it was not overly priced.

Thank you everyone! Viburnum Beetles are not a problem in my area, at least as of yet. I know they are moving a little west each year. I have read extensively about the problem.

Ken, yes, I always search for Viburnum Trilobum, just thought I didn't need to add the full name on this forum since we are all so savvy ;).

I did check out Classic Viburnums and see that that only sell little starter plants not large bare root plants, but if I can't find a bare root source for this spring then I will reconsider. I know I can place an order through a local nursery in September for bare root plants from Bailey Nursery in MN that would arrive next spring, but would really love to have a summer of growth under our belt. I have been researching and thinking about this spot for almost two years and have decided the American Highbush cranberry would be the perfect plants. Now I am anxious to get them in the ground. I can only buy the compact variety in my area though and want the full size.

Cathy, I looked at the link for the Tree Farm, but it looks like they aren't actually selling the plants, just describing. At least, I couldn't find the buying information anywhere on the page. Thanks, though!

That's odd. When I ordered from them it was a good size shrub. Definitely not a little starter shrub. It's in its third season here and almost 5' at this time.

Thyme, I checked their website again and underneath the information about the liner plants they sell, they did, indeed, say they sell container plants. I missed that part somehow. I will give them a call. Thanks!
