It's a pomegranate, probably one of the ornamental varieties, which tend to focus on flower production rather than fruit. A common SoCal landscape shrub.

LOL!! I doubt my eyesight is any better than yours.........even enlarging the photo, I can't see it clearly :-) But from a distance it does look like the pomegranate that grew in my sister's OC garden. But it could just as easily be the plant you suggested and I defer to your local plant knowledge (my knowledge is only based on frequent trips to that area but have never actually lived there). If we had a closer shot of both the flowers and foliage, I'm sure we could confirm.

I think its Tacoma also based on leaf tips and looks ALOT like my Tacoma in structure, shape etc.

This Tecoma looks like Orange Bells or Orange Jubilee. They get a lot bigger than the one in the photo, but they are very pretty and drought tolerant. There are other varieties in red and yellow.

Yes, lgteacher. This skittish solo visitor hung around for about a week. The orange Tecoma x was the bird's favorite plant, although I also grow yellow T. stans and reddish T. 'Bells of Fire'.
