2 Iris for ID & a Blooming Question

The violet one I think is Burst of Joy, at least that is what it was called when I got it-tho 4 of the 6 in the collection came into flower looking nowhere near the names given. The bright yellow one was in a mixed bag of iris I got from a friend. About 36-40" tall. Hope the photos aren't too large.

Oh, and why would some of my iris bloom right at the base, stems maybe 4-6" tall? My Immortality Iris in one bed, and my Stairway to Heaven both did it.

I agree your top one is 'Burst of Joy'. Redwolfdoc posted a picture of it that is like yours. The yellow one does not have any idiosyncrasy that would separate it from other solid yellows. It's gorgeous.

Beardeds that are planted late will not have time to produce a tall stem. The other culprit is weather. Next year both should be fine, weather permitting. Neither of these is guilty a willful misgrowing.

It looks like my Picasso Moon with the orange beard, which is blooming now on a very tall scape - 36 inches maybe. I will try to get a picture tomorrow.
