I think I would run it to the corner and wrap it around four-six inches, so it looks like it has depth. I can't see depth of the returning wall, or what's beyond the door jam, but from the photo it doesn't look like a good place to end.

If you are doing floor to ceiling then I think it needs to wrap around to the wet bar. If you are only doing the bottom half of the wall then you could stop before the switch and add column like vertical moulding at both sides

It looks like there is a cabinet over the wet bar, so putting stone on that far wall might interfere with it's operation.

The wall wraps around into the kitchen. There is no door jam; it's just a walk-through. It gies back into the kitchen about 3 ft wide and the refrigerator is directly on the other side. The wall facing us in the photo does recess a little bit and then run into the wet bar cabinet. Is this maybe just not the right wall for it? Is it normal to just stop the rock at the end of the wall after the light switch? Would it look weird from the side?

It would be better to choose a wall that has two inside corners, if you can.

Kimdee - I wonder if it would be possible to extend like the last 8 inches of drywall outward so that the stone runs into it. But the wall is that awful knockdown texture - not sure how easy that is to match.

Take it around the corner to the passage line - about 1/3 of the side wall with return pieces so the side wall looks like the "side" of the rock wall - then leave the flat drywall over the doorway and by the bar - it will look like a "real" rock wall because they have depth.

Just to give you a visual -- this is how it looks when it just ends. It's only about 1 3/4" thick with the mortar, so that's why we're suggesting wrapping around the corner a bit to give it the appearance of a thick stone wall. As libraeye mentioned, a good contractor can cut it with returns so it looks like it's real.
