I get what you're saying! I like to layer texture, too, when going tone on tone. I was thinking a slightly unusual white tile shape for the backsplash to add texture. Our floor will be either bleached oak or grey stained oak (haven't settled on this yet, because we have boards that are nearly 100 years old and will be joined with brand new boards). Our kitchen island will be either very dark grey or battleship grey. My thought this morning was that we could do FC on the island for texture and then do PW on the white cabinets. The thing is that the white cabinets actually don't have that much countertop space (against the backwall where the cooktop will be) so, again, perhaps I'm overthinking this. We had Misty Carrera in our old kitchen with white cabinets and it bothered me that the counters were more grey than white.

I'm not at all familiar with Corian - is it pretty carefree like quartz?

Re: Cambria, I was told that it's more expensive than the whites of Silestone and Caesarstone, which is why we ruled it out.

I had FC in my last house. Loved it. I have white Corian in this house. Love it too. Both were/are carefree for us. I did not, do not, and would not routinely put hot pots-pans directly on either surface. If I had a countertop appliance that produced a lot of heat, like a crock pot, I would put something underneath it with either countertop.

Let me add that I am not a fanatic about trivets. Often things get rested. And often I just throw down a dish rag. I don't find us treating the Corian counter different from our Ceasarstone or even that different from the granite we had prior to that. Clean up is roughly the same too. Soap and water wipe down at the end of the day. This probably tells you more about us than the counters!

Hello Colonial Remodel, just wondering what decision you made on your countertop? I'm having the same struggle with what to put with my bright white cabinets. I'm attracted to the light color quartz countertops but feeling like they may look dingy or dirty. Any advice you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Funny, we're just sitting here googling and researching again :) We've been batting around Blizzard for the past months but are now leaning toward FC again. So hard to know. I'm afraid white counters with white walls with white backsplash with white cabinets will end up just a touch too white even for me. So FC would add a bit more contrast. Our floors will end up being a brown stain or weathered oak with a touch of grey.

@colonial remodel what did you choose for counters? Installing glacier greenfield and some counters make the cabinets look yellow. Do you find the cabinets themselves are a bright white or do they lean yellow?
