You have a great blank canvas there. A lot depends just on what colours you like. When going Scandi / Danish, the furniture is predominantly Light and Airy, but you can add bright colours and textures for interest or stick with paler greys etc. Totally depends on what you like more.

Lovely room! Lots of possibilities. All the pics above are great. I would go for roman blinds though. A cosy windowseat with storage or a desk with bookspace beneath the bay window....

As Shannon has mentioned, shutters would be a lovely addition to this room. Alternatively, depending on the other choices you make, Roman blinds will add a touch of softness to the space and are available in a whole range of different colours and patterns.

Hi. As you've got a complete blank canvas why don't you start putting together an ideabook and make notes of what you like in each room? Interior magazines are also a good source. You could start with the sofas (particularly given delivery times!) but you could also be inspired by any piece of art, fabric, light etc. I like some of the modern mid century things that are around ATM which would tie in with your house. You can also get other houzzers to collaborate on your ideabook which could help. Also think about how you will use this room, how many you need to seat etc

What a lovely room :) A comfortable sofa opposite the window to enjoy the view, a little reading nook in the corner between the window and the fireplace (this is essential for that Hygge or lagom feeling). Mid century would work beautifully with a scandi vibe and update it with lush, tactile fabrics like velvet to add a contemporary twist. You just need to find that trigger point, a picture, fabric or accessory that makes your heart sing and you can start from there.

Haha I wish there was a more interesting story but sadly not. Unfortunately I've inherited my husband's sofa and old Ikea units that house the tv etc. And I've held off on replacing anything as knew we'd be moving at some point so this is my blank canvas.

I think mid century furniture could work really well if it's brought up to date with accessories. I really like west elm furniture and Swoon has some lovely pieces.

I think my problem is I like several different styles, scandi, contemporary, industrial & I'm not sure which way to go with this room.

I know it can be quite confusing to start with :) The lovely thing is that mid century, scandi and industrial all work very well together as they have certain factors in common. The contemporary aspect is just about updating those things with texture, colour etc to bring it up to date. Start collecting images that you like of rooms, furniture, accessories and colours and then look through them to see what the common themes are - you will be able to tell from looking at your collection what design elements you really love and pull it together from there. West Elm are fab! Also look at Made.com and Oliver Bonas accessories. If you like West Elm, take a peek at Emily Henderson (American Designer) - she has a very eclectic West Elm look - you might find lots of inspiration there :)
