Maroon, Red and Hunter green are the norm so ppl I believe may want to travel a different path is all in the areas I spoke of above.

The colonial I had the paned doors and sidelights in beeswax was in Winchester, MA. Mira and it was some years back. Wanted to avoid the, "conventional" door colors.

Wow thanks they'll all so cute... I'm not a fan of shutters, but I guess they're just standard to this house model so the builder just put them on.

I also like the idea of Cobalt or Violet/Magenta color. Any of these would be the talk of street and would look beautiful w/your colors. make sure the color is , bold, bright and glossy, whichever one your choose. Heck, I'd prob change the door color every year!

with the gray and black, this would be stand out.

If you go either the lime green, yellow, or purple route, some gold mop false cypress in front would be a nice foundation evergreen that would be a good pop of color. They work well in MA weather

What about a colour that introduces one to the inside colour design of your home? As I have a focus wall in my home painted in a dark blue colour BM Hale Navy, I have painted my front door in the same colour. Just a thought for you. Enjoy your decision and your home.

Ou lake house is the same color as yours and we did a royal blue door. My husband thought I was crazy, but I love it!

A dark teal. Looks great with gray.

These are some nice brighter colors that are still a bit toned down in a more sophisticated way. Sometimes the super saturated colors look like they should be in an elementary school.

I really like this courtyard green personally.

if you can, use Fine Paints of Europe paint. the gloss and pigments are like no other. It will protect your door for years.

your house color is dark and sedate, with your front door set back in the shadows. using a bold color will not look out of place, it will give life to the front porch, especially when surrounded w/colorful plants/ferns

I love this magenta shade w/black and gray. then do the bright green foliage and some coleus plants around the porch.

you could do your hair in the reflection of this paint. I've used it on dressers. If you pick a bold color, this is the paint pigment you want.

if you choose the yellow, pick a shade w/a bit of orange to it. a butternut squash color.

There are lots of great reds. It would give the place a pop!

Your home would look so much better without the shutters.

A muted coral with orange undertone would pop without being shocking and would look gorgeous with the gray. IMO gray and yellow also look amazing together but was a bit of a trendy color combo a few years ago and seems played out

The shutters are too skinny. Widen them and add colour. The door recedes too much, so add a wider white surround before you decide on the door colour.

Co-ordinate door and shutter colour.

The door seems to be shadowed. Darker and cool colors will recede further. I would choose a light bright color. Also, keep the shutters, it gives the exterior more personality. Otherwise, the windows would look un-finished. It is a traditional house. Shutters are appropriate.

I love the yellow door with the gray, although the magenta would look cheery, as well. Definitely bring some color to the door!

I don't think you can go wrong with a yellow door nor a door such as Juneberry by Sherwin which is a muted purple yet still bright enough. I do love gray and yellow yet you might get a bunch of swatches and tape them together and put then on the door and check them out throughout the day when you can to see the color in different lights and so on. The door is receded back a bit so you need a semi bright tone. Beth's purply color is also a nice color!

House is not finished yet but they painted the door. When we first bought the house, we picked out the siding color and also the front door color. At that time I chose BM Wythe Blue.

After coming to Houzz and considered many people's suggestions, I decided on BM Hawthorne Yellow... I emailed our builder's agent (our builder doesn't seem to email at all...), and the agent told me she'd update with the builder.

But... it seems like he didn't get get memo!! We got a Tiffany's blue door. Don't get me wrong, I love this color. It's just I was looking forward to having a yellow door, part of it is because I'm Asian and according to Fengshui a yellow door is perfect for this house (not that I'm superstitious or anything).

Anyway, during this house building process, our builder dropped the ball so many times (nothing extremely major but still the mistakes are annoying), so I'm not gonna be bothered by this one. In the end, the color is beautiful and maybe in a year or two, I'll paint it yellow. :)

The Wythe blue door looks great! I still think the shutters should go. I'd do it before the sun discolors the paint and leaves you with the telltale "removed shutters marks".

What direction does your front door face. If you stood in the doorway and looked out, then what direction would you be looking?

I'd like to remove the shutters but because we're really trying to close on time (already extremely delayed), we're not going to ask the builder to do it now. Is it something that can be done by ourselves? It's funny they actually don't bother me at all, here in New England (Boston, Massachusetts) almost all houses I see have shutters that don't fit (too skinny), it seems like they're just for decoration here, and my fiancé likes them even tho the size is off, probably coz he's from New England area.

Also, our house faces northwest, more to the north. A yellow door is ideal for a house facing this direction, that is, if you practice fengshui. This color in fengshui is considered cyan, so it's not bad anyway. Like I said I'm not superstitious and my fiancé is a tech/science geek so it doesn't matter to him at all.

I do plan on painting it yellow maybe in a couple years, I've been looking at many yellow doors since I got the suggestion and they're very pretty and cheery! Nonetheless I'm happy with this aqua color and plan on painting my first floor powder room something similar (BM Come Sail Away).

It will be very, very nice once you get some landscaping in.... you might consider some planters for the porch as mentioned above... if you are in a snow bound climate something such as:

You will be a lot happier when you get some landscape going. In the short term you can get planters and a bench or two chairs/rockers on the porch to tie your eye over until the, "grass" grows or what ever you put in!

Yep, landscaping is planned, and we're also putting in railings for the porch, or should we not? They'll be the same as our front step railings.

Call me classic but looking at your house I would do a white or a black door and hang a different color wreath each month or season on the door and adjust the port fixings to coordinate; that way the porch will be unexpected but classic.

I think the 'decorated' porch is no so decorated now a days and simpler and sleeker and less cluttered is becoming the norm. That and amazing interesting big porch lights for lots of illumination....IMO
