9 years agoReally cute, just remember to close the master bedroom doors before you open the front door.
The master by the front door doesn't bother me at all. It's a small house, and given that we tend to like our main living spaces oriented towards the back yard, something has to be pushed to the front. Just plan for good window treatments in the bedroom (and that bedroom has nice windows).
Not a fan of a large window directly in front of a toilet in the front of the house (or anywhere else).
I'd consider flip-flopping the half-bath and the laundry. The two spaces are roughly the same, and although the laundry room still has a front-facing window, at least it isn't immediately adjacent to the front door. Again, good window treatments.
You could consider reducing the size of the front porch so that the bathroom could go to the end and NOT be open to the front porch.
A living room only 13'-6" deep is very, very small. Did I mention how
small the main living space of the house is? Try laying out some
furniture to see just how small 13'-6" really is...Agreed.
Other thoughts:
- The master bath and the master closet appear rather cramped. Since the bathroom is already "bumped out", I'd consider bumping it another couple feet to allow a little more elbow room in these constantly-used rooms.
- Note that the toilet-closet and the bathroom door bump into one another. I'd remove the toilet from the closet (this bathroom really isn't big enough to support a closet) and flip-flop it with the shower ... this would also make the shower bigger ... you could also flip-flop the shower and the tub, which would allow the tub to be placed under the window
- Note that the two doors in the living /dining room are hinged in such a way that they'll be difficult to use: you'll have to scootch over into the corner to exit, which won't be comfortable.- I'd remove the door that divides the upstairs bathroom. It's not a large bathroom, and the door swing will be problematic.
- I'd put double windows on the side walls for both of the upstairs bedrooms.
