Maybe I did a mistake choosing dark coffee table and TV furniture...Before I had a rug similar to this one but it was stained and got dusty easily.

These would both look good against your sofa which I uploaded to match color. Nice contrast for furnishings and floor. What are the dimensions of the seating area as size of rug is just as important.

I like your choice of furnishings and you can use color in accents to brighten up the space. Hope this helps to see the coffee table, flooring and sofa next to rug for the contrast.

I like the West Elm Rug as there is an abstract element that is appealing and the colors work.

I ended up buying the West Elm rug. Even though it was expensive, I really felt for it (wife too!). Here is a more updated picture of my living room.

Next steps are a side chair. We liked this one at West Elm but it is super expensive:

Next step is to get the rug in and see how it will all look, then decide on what to add, what to change.

Curtains would look good, but not practical with the desk, and the door on the right flush with the wall, it will get in the way.

Is desk OK there? I don't have lots of options with where to put it.

Here is my crude phone painting.

Curtains high up and full on the sides of the window but not covering the window. Tv higher or art on top of it. Rug on ground and that leather chair at corner. Pillow with chair tones on sofa.

The Houzz shop has a GREAT leather chair in camel for $159. Can't attach the photo, but search under mid century modern camel leather chair. It's a winner.

Also for the art over the sofa, something with more color could keep up with the rug. not super loud but a bit of color. I'll see what I can find

Yep, that is the chair.....a friend has it....high quality and very, very comfortable.

Would you recommend extending the colors into the kitchen? I have a very big white wall next to kitchen and fridge. It measures around 8-10 feet wide. Will you continue blue/yellow/gray tones there or try to separate kitchen somehow even if it is next to living room?

I would suggest blue tones for your rug and then add yellow with your accents; throw pillows, vases, etc. Good luck!

You mentioned above blue or yellow walls. I am assuming the rug at west elm is final. If you were to go with the color blue this color would be nice on your television wall. Barely there BM in the other wall with a mirror. How about the black mirror next to your sofa if you did not want to invest in purchasing another item. That could be a possibility if it works there. Also, do not want to neglect the wall behind sofa. Balance is key.

Neat. I think there is no reason to re paint your walls. Unless you'll want to change the color by self. But it's a neutral color for everything, including your new rug

Yes, I have to do something about that far wall in the kitchen, its very wide and tall so it looks empty. I could do a collage or a one big wall art too. Would you match it with the living room colors even if it's not necessarily the living room?
