Ready for all new furniture, etc. I'm asking you guys before I buy ANYTHING.

What would you do with this awkward room? I'm attaching one close up and one extended floor plan. The living room has been measured carefully.

My style is sort of "The Good Wife" tv show. My husband's is sort of Bohemian junk collector plus 59 guitars. ACK! We are both very open to suggestion however.

It's a 1928 hip roof colonial with some "craftsman-type" elements, or "arts and crafts-type" elements. I have nice moldings, beautiful wooden radiator covers, and a beautiful (but very large) fireplace.

My main problems are traffic flow, light, and clutter. We really use this room, for everything, so it isn't one of those "Walk by and keep it nice" living rooms. We use it every single day, all day long. I have tried to put electrical and light switches/cable into the drawing. There are sconces over the fireplace mantle but other than that all of the lights have to be plugged in.

Despite being adjacent to an enclosed porch/den with windows on all sides, this room does not get very good natural light. it always feels kind of dark. We live in suburban Boston and need window coverings for privacy though.

All four windows and both doorways have been measured to the outside of the moldings. So something can go up to that point, or in front of the two windows that don't have radiators. Same with radiator covers, and same for the mantle over the fireplace (which is a lot wider than the actual fireplace--they're measured at the widest point.)

How big a couch is too big? How big is too small? Is it ok to have 3 couches against the walls?

I have two pieces I'd like to keep (inherited from my mother): a Korean blanket chest (39w x 36h x 17d) and a Korean scholar's table which makes a nice coffee table (38w x 20h x 24d). Other than that, everything will start over. Oh, I also have a basic corner entertainment center with a big tv on it. It takes up any of the corners (52"w in the front). The TV is 51w x 30h. I can switch it out with a slightly smaller tv.
