speaking only as a solicited donor, when gofundme first got started i thought it was a clever idea. then i got a couple solicitations by people well able to afford what they were asking for (sure, maybe they cant afford it, and just drive around 2 expensive new cars for yucks...). it had the effect of a couple rotten apples spoiling the barrel. now i hit delete.

Emily, Marketing Manager here. Yes, worked collaboratively on a campaign to raise funds and write copy and track progress. https://www.gofundme.com/iwillwalk Go fund me is easy to use and update. This campaign took place almost 2 years ago now I wanna say and we still get traffic on the facebook page we made to detail it. Some stories just really resonate. My advice is to tell a good story and how the funds will be used with incentive rewards for certain amounts of donations. It depends on the nature of the fundraising but social media on the side, media interest, etc. helps. Anything to build engagement and relate ability.

I didn't do the GFM I proposed above but did start one for a Veteran whose SSI debit card was stolen and ripped of $500 within 30 mins. Wonderful results! One doner covered the entire $500 and others brought the total to over $600.
