Privacy Shrub or Tree

I would like to plant a shrub or tree to give me more privacy outside my lanai. My landscaper planted a row of Mirror Leaf Viburnums but they are not giving us the immediate privacy we will need when the neighbor's house is completed. I would like to tie it in somehow but I am not sure how to do it.
