I'm trying to pick paint colors for the main rooms of my new home. I prefer all the main areas to be painted the same color - is some shade of white a bad idea?

Not at all! White makes the room look fresh and airy. Just add some colorful artwork and decorations to jazz it up a bit.

Is there a shade of white that helps keep from seeing dirt, scuff marks, etc.? My main concern isn't how the overall color will look, but how dirty it will get.

a shade of 'white' that doesn't show dirt?? lol. no. what are you guys doing on your walls that it shows scuffs and such? running a day care??

check into the newer paints that are more resistant to dirt marks and clean up easier. flat paint is the hardest to clean. you need a tiny bit of sheen to make it easier to wipe.

lets put it this way, IF u have kids, Any paint color could show dirt marks, scuffs, etc etc etc. lol

my daughter had some walls painted a dark color in her family room area. For this exact reason. That was about 2/3 months ago. It's already showing wear n tear.

Kids r animals. Lol.

Go for it if u want but be prepared to touch up n redo again in a few years.

Its all good. It's just life...
