I checked and it's synthetic oil.

Does it matter if I drain it now (because I won't be adding new oil to it) or drain it in the fall?

Joe... having used it only 5 times last season, total hours on the oil? 10 or so? Plenty of life left in that oil to leave it there worry-free until you get it ready next fall. But do change it before full on use next year... get that break-in out and a good synthetic in its place.

Well as I advised previously , if you are sure it is synthetic the low hrs indicated would prevent any storage issues until next yr . I usually service all my units prior to storage . Your safe either way Joe , another benefit of using the best oil affordable . P.S. break in oils are a thing of the past . However the syn may have been a straight 30 from the factory , I usually recommend 5-30 multigrade for snowblowers for ultimate protection .
