My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Avise ...Mocha Fossilized Eucalyptus from CaliBambo -- Seattle area

We are considering Mocha Fossilized Eucalyptus from CaliBambo, solid, not engineered, purchse direct from CaliBamboo...we live near Tacoma Washington (1 hour south of Seattle) and run our wood stove quite a bit in the winter. As you know it rains a lot here, drizzle, and we can see temps down in the teens in the winter, any concerns installing Mocha Fossilized Eucalyptus from CaliBambo in the Seattle area? I read some of the bamboo posts and there seems to be a lot to consider beyond style (who knew), I have never thought about humidity and year round temperature in-regards to flooring. we have a single story (rambler/ranch), non-cement slab, vapor barrier installed over crawl space, plywood subfloor. The wife really like the Mocha Fossilized Eucalyptus, beautiful floor. All advise every much appreciated.

    Follow up, 3 years later:


    We went with Ambient Strand Eucalyptus (solid nail-in) for our house, and we LOVE it!! Super durable. It's a light natural finish (Tupelo Honey) with a beautiful grain, so it hides everything.... which is great in a house with kids and pets. If we ever move, I would 100% install again.


    The only issue we've had is that when we acclimated the wood to our house, we did it during the driest time of the year. Since it rains so much in the PNW, we should have installed it when it was wetter out, like the fall, to accommodate the natural wood expansion. So, that's one change we will make next time! It always goes back to perfection in the summer. Lol. But even with this snafu, we're EXTREMELY happy with our floors!


    Picture was taken during construction, so no trim on yet in the photo. Still just as beautiful today as the day we installed!
