Some goodies from the past few days..

It's been in the mid-90s the last few days, after weeks of below 60°. Quite a shock for us, but a good shock for the roses too... and the chickies! The new babes aren't handling the heat very well. Poor things. The roses are adapting fairly quickly tho. Another week and they'll all be adjusted to it. Not to worry...

I don't even know which one I like best there are so many pretty blooms. And of course they are all so different!

That voodoo lily is so cool!

This is a DRACUNCUS VULGARUS or VOODOO LILY. It's an interesting, weird thing that has the most horrible odor! My husband asked WTH smelled so bad out front, then he remembered... "oh it's that weird plant you have out there that attracts flies!" I thought I had dug it out a couple of yrs ago... but apparently it left some babies...

Yeah that Voodoo Lily is cool, but the smell is horrid. Smells like rotten dead animal. It attracts flies down into the bulbous base with it's own smell, and then the fly smell adds to it! It's almost nauseating! LOL

Wow Beth ! So many awesome roses here. They look great! And that lily... there is a new house being built next door and if it wouldn't punish me as well as them i would line the whole fence with them ;) . Maybe if I put fans out to push the smell that a way .... :)

anything to make them wish they picked another lot .

Love your pics! Your LOS is beautiful...pretty much the same color as mine (first year for me). Maybe the color has to do with temperature/location - we're both in norcal?
