Dining chair -to paint or not to paint?

Just got these chairs off of Craigslist to go with our dining table. Leave them as they are or paint? The seats will be reupholstered either way and in a postcard? Be added to the bench on the other side of the table once I figure out what I'm doing with the chairs. Also, do you like these chairs? I'm trying my hand at mixing styles.

Love the chairs. Nice find! I'd keep the rattan natural.

I would keep them natural but would choose fabric with more white than any other color for the seats so they will be highlighted and will relate to those shiplap walls....follow your instincts they are working well.

Just for comparison sake here are some photos of painted chairs. Not painting them would be easier, but I am curious the style benefits of not painting them? What makes you like them unpainted? I'm still torn!

The painted ones in your examples are actually more formal chairs--rattan inspired, rather than actual. If you painted yours they would not look like that. Yours are better for a more casual are like you have them. And they go with your window shade.

Oh I see thank you! Do you guys think they are ok being so close in color to the table? I love the contrast in the other photos I attached, but I definitely wouldn't paint this table..,we do have a round one in our basement that is already white

I would paint them. The examples you provided of the painted chairs are beautiful and yours would look the same. Then you can decide either to use your unpainted table with them which I think would look nice, or your other painted table.

Painting would be nice if you are willing to prepare the surface correctly to prevent future chips etc...light sanding and priming.

Paint them in a very high gloss paint like Fine Paints of Europe Brilliant. Chinese blue would be a good color.
