I have 3 others and all seem to be doing well. If at first..... I was worried because I think the hawks that used to nest above this one have moved away. No more guano fertilizer. :-}

I'm jealous Jon, my three have all slowly disappeared. It took three years, all planted in different areas in my gardens. It's the only hosta I have lost.

Hey Jon, in your opinion is there any real difference between Dream Queen and Thunderbolt? I took a pic of a Thunderbolt leaf today (and I have a Dream Queen in another part of the garden) and they are so similar, I really can't see any difference between the two.

Sherry, I am really puzzled as to why you have had back luck with DQs. My big guy is under a huge pine (although everything planted near it does well) and the other 2 are in dicey conditions (very sandy soil, a LOT of tree root competition and very minimal morning sun). Jon

Thunderbolt to the rear, Dream Queen to the front. DQ was sunk in a pot in the ground right next to Thunderbolt for about a year before I found a place to plant her, so they had been under identical light conditions for a while before this pic was taken.

I think I know just the place for a Thunderbolt, in an open spot near the top of a hill....where else would a thunderbolt strike??? Jon

Here is mine - after 3 years. It has one last chance to perform. I dug it up , cleaned the roots and planted it in organic soil. We shall see next year if it works.
