Kitchen backsplash update -- what colors/patterns would work?

Looking for ideas for replacing the brown kitchen backsplash. The kitchen is very dark, so I'm thinking something lighter, and in a more modern pattern. The counters are grey with a hint of blue, meanwhile the rest of the living area has a lot of grey accents. If it makes a difference, the hardwood floors are likely going to be refinished -- likely in a grey hue. Thank you!!
