The roof is cedar shake and gutters are copper

They're ok on the right side of the house, but tragically undersized on the large window on the left. So those I'd remove for sure. The others could go either way -- could look more cottagy without...

I like it better without. Put a little window box under that upper window and call it a day. (But I'll survive your putting them back, if a few shades lighter than they started.)

Once you paint the body of the house, you'll have a better idea of whether or not the shutters should go back up. Definitely no shutters on the double window. I wouldn't paint the stone - its important character on this house. If you'd like some brighter color, use one on the door.

The Tudor Brown is way too dark for the shutters and now that I have read others comments, I am leaning toward no shutters and going for a more cottage look.

When I look at your in progress pic, I already feel like your awesome roof is popping out more!!! That is the star of your home.

PS - do you want to consider a sage green for trim color? That would take you in a slightly different direction and crank up the charm factor.

I miss the shutters on the right

Looking good! I think widening the window trim so all the windows that are under the stone "crowns" connect to and are as wide as the crowns will make the stone part look deliberate and not like an ill-fitting add on. The windows will also fit in better with the upper crownless one. Window boxes will be another "crowning" touch.

I do like the shutters.... and somebody mentioned not painting the stone?? I AGREE WITH THAT! It's too stark with the color chosen and will be much more cottage and in keeping with the home to be a more muted off white stone.

However, I'm late to the party and the photo looks as though the stone was removed on some portions of the home?? WOOF!

It's beautiful with or without the shutters. I want those window boxes! I personally think the shutters added charm to this beautiful home. It's such a, "sweet" looking place for lack of a better work. Maybe you will go with shutters later? Maybe you will live with it a while and be happy without. Either way, it's a win/win!
