I desperately needed to re-do my closet, but didn't want the cost of expensive closet systems. While in Ikea, I spotted the Molger bench ($39.99), and decided to use them for my closet system. My closet (4 1/2 feet deep and 9 feet wide) has clothes rods on each end. The shelving created from the benches is in the center of the closet.

After assembling the benches, we doweled them and stacked 4 on one side and 2 on the other, and I added another clothes rod on the right. We anchored them to the wall studs.

6 benches at $40 each....totalling $240. Not bad for an attractive wood slat closet system.

Still to do: I am going to purchase another bench and use just the shelf for the top of the clothes rod on the right side.

I like the asymmetrical shelving, with spacing of 6 inches and 10 inches between shelves. However, of you want, you can move the lower shelf up and created an even spacing of 8 inches between shelves.
