We are gutting our tiny masterbath to make it more functional. Shower will span entire back wall with glass enclosure. A smaller, more modern toilet will be installed in the same location and a more functional floating vanity in high gloss white will be installed. Ugly white shelf will be removed completely. The bathroom is about 4.5' wide x 7.5' deep. Ceiling is slightly sloped (attic ceiling).

We are trying to decide on tile (how many patterns, which tile should go where, do we go all the way up the wall).

My husband and I found this blue faux wood porcelain tile and he loves it. I am torn b/c I typically like my scandinavian minimalist gray and white but I want to do something that is cool and luxurious feeling and push the boundaries a little bit.

Would this blue tile and herringbone tile be too much in a bathroom this size? Is there a way we could mix both without it looking overwhelming? My original thought was to do herringbone on the floor and back wall of shower, blue tile (8"x 48") vertically up the wall and then some large format square white tile for the rest of the floor.

If you have any suggestions or advice you can offer I would be immensely grateful!
