Hmm, definitely not just summer mist then on the blue. Maybe this one just isn't the most stable... if I were to pull out the all blue leaves (or almost all blue) would that harm the plant? Looks like from both photos 20% or less come out mostly blue.

I would not do that. The plant is small. Many hostas need a couple of years to gain their mature look.

You might pull out entire solid eyes, but I recommend waiting until next spring. Plants go through a lot of stress when being prepared for sale...I have experienced them doing very strange things the year purchased, only to come up completely normal the following spring.

I agree that I would not disturb the plant. Not all leaves colour up the same and it is still too early to determine the complete colour transition. Ivory Queen is unique in that there is always something changing in the colour of the leaves. I love that factor about this hosta. It is just past 7:00 am here...I might be able to get a photo....

Thanks for the feedback all. Patience is not my strong suit! Based on your advice, I will hold off from putting anymore stress on this little guy and just let him grow this season. Certainly appreciate any pics you can share Josephine :)

Do you see additional misting since the previous photo in the left of the now-tilted-previously-three-o'clock leaf? One of the three blues is gaining some misting.

Here's my Ivory Queen that was planted last year. She has a little hail damage this year but she has quite a bit of white on her. Interesting how they all look so different.

A lot of variation to be sure! Linda, yours definitely looks the most like the stock photos. Very nice! Josephine- I do see it, becoming more white by the day. Question for both- how much sun do they get? Maybe that is a big factor too. (Mine only gets dappled sun under a large Maple)

It gets full sun from sun up until around 11am right now and then dappled sun for the rest of the day until late afternoon.

Perhaps this one really needs more sun to develop that strong white center? Or maybe it is just this one exhibits a lot of variation from plant to plant (and even leaf to leaf)

It gets sun-up sunlight until around 1:30 then shade for rest of day (shaded by house). This is what attracted me when I first bought it...

Seems like yours gets about the same amount of sun as Linda's.

Plus it seems like when planted, yours was also very bright white. Guess it must just be weather. Do you think yours continues to get more white? It looked like even in the difference of about a week or so, yours was gaining some coloration.
