Beautiful rug with the red border but no do not paint the walls red. Use a few accents in the muted red -- like pillows that would pop against the dark sofa and chair. A large wall of red will actually detract from the rug.

Less is more.

Lower the wall sculpture to 6 inches over the sofa or find art with small amounts of the same red as the rug.

A dark red lamp would really help in place of the silver one.

I agree with leelee. I would pull a mid tone beige from your area rug and work with that. Red is a very difficult color to get right and it can be overwhelming. A lamp with a red base is a great suggestion. I would also look into a lined drapery panel for your window that just touches the floor.

The metal wall decor is mounted too high on your wall. Mount it about 8" over your sofa. The end table should have a larger, colorful lamp & floor lamp would be a good addition behind the rock along with a plant in the corner.

Paint the muntins in your window red…the same red as the rug.
