I haven't seen ladybirds in months, juststarted. Lots of aphids though!

Yeah they are feasting on new growth the roses are putting out. I am waiting for the plants to be dormant so I can put them in ground. Maybe I should stop adding a bit of plant food to watering can when I water the pots.

It is so neat to see ladybugs from across the world!! They look so different from mine. Below is a link to the two spot ladybug...which is the one I see in my yard.

Juststarted..Have you any access to safe alternatives like Horticultural SOAP OR All Seasons Dormant Oil? Neem? These get rid of all my pest issues and disease on my roses..)

mikerno, I'd never heard of Horticultural Soap (or using Neem oil on roses), till recently on this forum. I'll see if they're available here, and I daresay Amazon has them otherwise.

Oh, I see HS is what we call White Oil, but with additives, such as garlic. Great idea. And Neem Oil is available here (Bunnings). I'll definitely be using it.

This is inspite of using Horticultural oil. Though I do not spray it a lot. Once every two weeks. Do not have much time really. That I manage to water them weekly is an achievement.

The adult ladybugs don't eat all that much. It is the larvae that have monster appetites. They look like little black-and-orange alligators.

hoovb - I've never seen a ladybug larvae on my roses, but I have seen one on the sidewalk. They are so cool looking!!
