Flooring Help...

What color floors??

We're going through an update -- just repainted our walls gray, installed quartz countertops, did some reclaimed wood accents, installed plantation shutters, and got updated black stainless appliances. We are about to paint the cabinets white.

We are looking at putting in all new flooring on our first level -- want a consistent flow throughout. I'm thinking 7" wide grey tone -- would that be too much? We have 2 large dogs, so understand that they will eventually get scratched. Would love something that didn't scratch -- but don't want to do laminate as I'm afraid it will lower the value of the home.

What other colors would be recommended. We like the modern/minimalistic/industrial feel. Any other thoughts?

Thanks for the advice!

Eric

    Hey Eric!
We recently provided a customer with a wide plank rustic/industrial style hardwood in a first floor with a modern/industrial feel in a gray tone and the same floor (different finish) in a more rustic setting so it just depends on your color palette. I'm attaching some photos here for you that also may work with your design for reference. We offer a quick hardwood flooring quiz [here] to be sure you're finding the right floor for your climate/subfloor/lifestyle since hardwood is a complex purchase process and you want to be sure you are selecting the right species for all the considerations you mention above (like dogs, etc). The key to hiding scratches with hardwood is to choose a matte finish/pre-distressed look. All of our floors are handmade in the US/Canada and we ship product direct to you. I personally have a floor from our American Tavern attached below and a 65 pound german shepherd with zero issues. Hope this helps! - Revel Woods

Neat little project. I liked Revel Wood's answer. If you're worried about scratches but loved the wood look check out MSI https://www.msistone.com/wood-look-tile/porcelain/helena/ash/

Love hardwood but I've been saying it for a while, some of the best hardwood looks I've seen in flooring are actually porcelain tile. Great option that will also add value to the home, plus stand up to the dogs. Can't go wrong with product from MSI. Take look at these two products -- one a great look in hardwood, one in tile.

Thanks, my concern on Porcelain is that it may be too hard & cold, we live in the northeast. Wood feels warmer to me... It is beautiful however!
