Last spring this disease hit my bearded iris and it is back this year. Based on internet searches last year I cut the blades back with clippers dipped in bleach. I also read that there could be a host plant. At the same time the iris blades were infected, a mature plot of silver dead nettle (about 50 feet away) died. Do not know if it was connected. Both last year and this year the spring has been very, very wet - 21 out of 30 days of rain or drizzle this spring. The iris are wet from rain in the following pictures.

Is this a bacterial or fungus disease and what do you recommend? Do I cut the blades back to the ground, spray them with something, move them to another location, etc.
