The eBay seller seems to have come down on this eBay Listing - maybe due to the "hairline crack" on the bowl. Think I would offer less again and see if he would accept, it's been on eBay for several months with no offers.

I suspect that the seller may not take less than half of what they are asking.

Plaster. So not metal. I am assuming that is not good?

Thanks, everyone! I do like the bowl but I agree with you --a little pricey for one with a small crack. I decided to pass.

Never spend for a piece with a crack. That can grow and separate and the piece fall in half. For damaged pieces, chips are much more stable.....what you see is what it is, it won't get worse.
I would not pay more than, say $25 for that bowl....if that.
The picture makes it look like a silver rimmed Copeland Spode mid 19th century bowl....but it's not!
I would call it a "leaverite"...as in leave 'er right there!

I might be a little crazy, but I have pieces that have been repaired with wire. To me it adds to the piece that someone loved it enough to have fixed.

I also have a, to my eye, lovely old Mason's tea pot.....repaired with wire.....I love it...but know the value is compromised.
