I don't understand the constraints here at all -- you have to remove your stairs, but you can't have them go any further out? How can that be? You can't, say, have a square deck with steps on the left leading down to the walkway?

How are going to have a deck with the bow windows? Or are just having it between the windows?

Hi ACM, where the bottom stair ends, is where the pathway starts. If we were to push the stairs out further, the bottom stair would end on the grass. We could actually move the stairs to the left, but I think it would look off center with the double doors.

Hi jck910, we were thinking the deck floor would be about the same height as where the bay window is, so we would have to cut the wood to accommodate the window.

Not sure you can do that there are codes for stair riser heights. What would be the purpose of the deck? Will you sit out there? Or is just to have larger landing at door?

The stairs have to come out, because they are pushing on the basement foundation. We figured a deck would be our cheapest option, as well as the best for the curb appeal. We were thinking about building stairs out of wood, the exact size and shape of the concrete ones that are there now, and somehow build a deck on either side of the stairs.
