Lyrata Rooting/Propagation from a branch

A beautiful 20 ft
was taken down by a storm yesterday. I was able to secure one of the smaller branches from it. I was able to keep the
part was where it connected to the one of the larger branches. Can I propagate it safely? Also what about trimming and training the stem to be straight? any ideas or suggestions?
