Compac Unique Calcutta

So there is not many previews of what Compac Unique Calcutta actually looks like a kitchen so I thought I would upload the photos of my new kitchen. We ended up using it for both countertop and backsplash and it is beautiful. Worth the extra cost as nothing compares to it.

The back splash stopping at the cabinets looks the best in my opinion.

Wow @jasongoldberg, your kitchen looks stunning! We're really glad that you went with Unique Calacatta for both, countertops and backsplash. It is a gorgeous and elegant design that makes a kitchen look unique. Thank you for trusting COMPAC's products.

Yes! I love when people do the back splash high and with same material as the counter tops. Lovely!

Looks like you went with the honed or non polished unique Calcutta. How does it do with showing crumbs etc on the counter? I love the durability over marble. I have two kids just wondering if I will miss the busy-ness of a quartz or granite with more of a pattern that would hide more.

Jason, we purchased the Compac Unique Calacatta for our kitchen and decided to use pieces of the slab for our bathroom shower bench and window frame. These two pieces arrived first and were installed. Shortly after we noticed small black specks on the surface of the quartz and after trying to wipe them away realized they were imbedded into the quartz. Does your counter top have these small black specks? Wondering if it is part of the design or a defect.

    Hi @Matt P,

The small specks you noticed on the surfaces are not a defect or a quality problem, they are part of the design as the real Calacatta (natural stone) has these black spots. They are purposely
included as part of our design as we are trying to mimic the natural Calacatta.

    Thank you.

    @compac thank you!

    Hi Jason,

Love your kitchen! Just wondered if you could please give us a report of your compaq countertop. Any stains or scratches, chips or concerns? Also, would you please share your cabinet paint color?

    Thank you!

Where did you get Compac quartz? I am in San Francisco and looking for supplier.

Is there a supplier in San Francisco?

Beautiful material and installation. Thanks for sharing! We would love to see photos of the final product as well.

I am also looking for a supplier in San Francisco.

I have used counter material for the backsplash, too, two times. It unifies the look and avoids the struggle to pick a backsplash. Well done.

@Compac, I see you reply to customers when they have a positive comment of Unique Calacatta, but when there is a negative comment you do not reply. I have been trying to contact Compac as I was told thru via email. customerservice@compac. us and no one has replied. I have had Unique Calacatta installed twice for the kitchen counter tops with same outcome. They have a film/spots all over. Is anyone going to contact me? Thank you.

Is the unique calacatta a cool white, neutral or slightly warm white? I have Benjamin Moore Simply White cabinets and walls (which have a slight hint of warmth) and a navy island. Trying to decide if the Unique calacatta will work or if it will look to cool.

I wouldn't buy anything made by Compac. We discovered manufactured defects and Compac does noting to help. A lot of sweet talks but never back up their sale. We spent and wasted over $16,000 for just the counters. The vendor that sold us was Stoneville USA Inc. This is the worst vendor out there.

First picture show holes that are from the surface of the counter. Second is a line that was "GLUE" embedded from the packaging counter wrapper they sealed from the factory. Notified Compac, they send some rep out, agreed that was a defect and never did anything to resolve.

    Do not use Compac!!

@Diana Guell could tell me your concerns as well?

We are about to buy 4-5 slabs of Compaq Calcutta Unique. Polished for our kitchen. After reading so many comments on other sites, I’m really nervous. For any of you who do have it now for a few months, is it true that it stains, scratches and has filmy marks on it. It’s looks beautiful but I have kids and was chasing Quartz because I thought it was going to not have these issues. We currently have granite and do not have any scratches or stains. Any comments are appreciated.

I don't think Compac has a good after sales warranty. Products that was found to be defective was not dealt with diligently. Instead Compac would give the run around like they care. In the end nothing was done and customers will be left fending for them self. We run a licensed construction company for decades. I would not recommend.

Jason, are you still happy with the countertops? Nervous from all the bad reviews. Thank you.

jason any follow up on the counters today?

Yeah, I had my heart set on these but after finding soooo many bad reviews I went with silestone Calcutta gold, not my first choice but still pretty

Hi @Jason Goldberg and @Matt P, how is your Calacatta Unique holding up? Any concerns or regrets? @straversat what did you end up doing? Oh one other question @Jason Goldberg, for the backsplash, did you do full thickness slab, or did they split it for you? We will likely be putting this on our island, countertops, and backsplash also.

@mfsanacore The slabs are 1 inch thick for the backsplash like the countertops. Overall the stone still looks great but it does scratch have some scratches in a few places. Keep keys off of it and use a cutting board (my nanny didn't do that a few times.)

@Jason Goldberg have you had any issues with the backsplash portion being in close proximity to burners or pots/pans on the rear burner?

    @mfsanacore no issues.

Thanks! Went and looked at the slabs today, should work out well with the template they came up with for the countertops!

I would be very weary of buying from compac. I bought three slabs and one is a completely different texture, completely different pattern and color. Compac claims it has the same tone so it is acceptable. It is definitely a different composition than the others- it feels like plastic while the others feel cooler and smoother like real marble. They have sent two new slabs to replace it and they’re not similar now I am stuck with mismatched countertops. Their product is unreliable.

I have never bought a COMPAC product, however, I am actually looking for inspiration for my future house, and quality countertops will be a MUST for my future kitchen. I guess it's impossible as a brand to have 100% happy customers and 0 negative reviews, but what gives me peace of mind is that if I decide to buy a COMPAC product and something goes wrong, they will respond bringing solutions.

    Something very important to consider.

Yes, I echo the real reviews above about Compac. We made the huge mistake of choosing this product. Looks over quality. We had the countertop installed in a NYC condo where only two adults live part-time and kitchen is used occasionally. The main slab where the sink is installed started chipping from the beginning and just kept on chipping on the edges everywhere with just the slightest contact with dishes. I was stunned. We have a second home with granite from the 1990s that was heavily used by families over the years and not a single ding, chip anywhere. The amount of chipping is just not normal. I have lived in many places with various countertop materials and never had any issues like this. The installer and Compac would not stand behind the product and said chips are your own fault. So when you see them respond in these threads, in our case, I can attest, it is simply pretending online to want to help. We made this mistake. I caution you not to make the same mistake. It is a very soft, chip prone product. Go with something harder. These are some big chips. Tried to fill, but Compac keeps on chipping.

As you know we tried several times to get you to replace this under warranty, but your company refused. So your offer here is merely a show. If you are serious about helping us, you know how to reach me! We would love you to replace this finally. If that is what you are saying here, please call me. Your rep in NYC, definitely knows how to reach me. Until then, people deserve to know the truth about this product and company.

I was supposed to get a call back. Is someone going to follow up?

My wife and I had narrowed down our selection to the Compac slab, but after reading these reviews and the bad customer service, it is clear that Compac does not stand by their product. We will try our hand with Cambria or MSI instead.

I loved the look as well but after the reviews I went with silestone

@slope006 So we have had our stone for almost 5 yrs now and the stone still looks great.

I never had to deal with customer service so unfortunate to those who have had issues.

More than 3 years on and still no reply from customer service! Our countertop chips like soap. customer service is non-existent! Please, please take my advice and avoid like the plage! they do not stand by their profuct!
