Pay attention to the materials, the functioning hardware, and the finishes. Most dealer bought cabinets are particle board boxes or plywood boxes with solid wood faceframes with doors that overlay (sit on top of the frame). Upgrade your hardware to the soft-close types, and upgrade your drawer boxes to solid wood with dovetail joinery. Another key to any long lasting kitchen is to hire a very good carpenter to install the cabinets for you. I can't stress this one enough!
