Mango fruit in the first year.

Hi Everyone,

I planted a Bowen in Feb and is now developing lots of small fruit. I know from reading here not to let the tree fruit in the first year so I'm hoping to get some advice how to approach it without harming the tree. I'm pretty sure the tree would drop them anyway but I'm all for root development and having a strong tree that will no doubt give lots of fruit in the future years. So I read to cut them when they are pea sized. Will cutting the tree be harmful? Any tips? Thanks so much.

Well with mine I left the flowers on there the first year but I didn't water enough so the flowers dried off. After a month or so I got tons and tons of new growth. So technically the right thing happened naturally :) but I need to water more!

Yeah I've noticed they really like to drink. I've got a 6L water bottle with a hole in the lid that drips out everyday and give a good soak every 3-4 days at the moment.
