Now the fig fruit is turning yellow and falling off what may cause that to happen?

Breba figs will fall if weather is too cold, main crop figs will fall from lack of water.

Some fig types need pollinating .

That tree looks like it has been there for a while has it ever produced ripe figs in past seasons for you ?

Dieseler I don't know we have been living in this house for only a couple of months and we are in a heat wave right now so maybe that's what caused them to turn yellow and fall off.

It may not save the figs but for the over all health of tree you can give it some water when sun is low.

If the leaves are perked up the next morning its a sign it did need water .

Dieseler I just watered it yesterday do you think it needs more or less since we water it 3 times a week.

You might have to make some cuttings out of a few branches and donate to strangers for good luck. ;)

Mario 3 times a week should be ok unless your in Arizona where temps have been over 100f .

Some strains of Celeste, Pastiliere are known to drop many of their figs.

It is possible that that plant needs pollinating most folks grow the self pollinating type as the so called fig wasp is in limited area's such as parts of California.

Give yours a chance you may get a ripe fig yet as i see some figs still hanging on.

I will take a photo of the whole tree. Also we live in the high desert in southern California we're it has been over 100 for a week just letting you know.

Its only a guess but a deep watering at those temps may help plant for next season along with a good layer of mulch at base to help hold it in.

Also looking at those leaves you may have some sort of bug on plant like mites.

Again its on a guess but a start.
