New siding

We plan on replacing our 30 year old vinyl siding. We live in Co. ski town...we have three red barns with mixed rusty siding that is popular in our area. We also have extensive gardens. We want to keep the house a whitish color, but do not want to maintain. Would stucco work or what would others suggest.
