My "sunny" bed looks full this year

I was given several hostas last year from a friend who moved. They needed a home and this bed was very empty. As they are all new transplants, it will be interesting to see how they look after summer. Oh, the background plants are mostly Oriental lilies and bleeding hearts, plus some Sedum ternatum and Heuchera up front.

Big Daddy, a supreme underperformer for me, moved from elsewhere:

Very nice garden. Your Wave Runner is stunning. I dislike noids too, but love plants from friends. I named a noid from a friend 'Elegans Sue' after the plant Elegans, which it resembles, and Sue the gifter. Problem solved- a garden name that also helps me remember that I'm not sure its Elegans and that Sue gave it to me.

Super pretty bed! I love the combos.

I also refer to my Rhino Hide as 'poor little thing'.... he's in a spot with lots of sun, and technically has increased in pips, but his leaves are smallish and not as rounded as yours. And he is being swallowed up by ajuga right now, so I'm going to move him very soon. He will still be in lots of sun, but won't have to fight the groundcover in his new home. Eleven - I think your RH looks cute, and more like it's supposed to, even if it is smallish.

I like your freeform rock border. It really offsets the varied green and bluish foliage of the hostas. The heucheras are a nice border to the border also. I think yours look great. But then again, I am from Colorado where most of ours grow sort of slow because there is intense sun, wind, and little moisture.

I have several NOIDs because I never really kept track until two years ago. I also acquired one at an estate sale last year because it just looked so forlorn. It has its own plant tag that now says "Hosta -- Estate Sale". :-)

You might be surprised by how well they grow in sun, especially Mr. Watson. They might have scorched leaves, but they'll grow - assuming you give them enough water.

Love Wave Runner, hadn't seen one before.

My Rhino Hide barely survived for years. I finally put it in a growing bag. It's still small, but at least it's getting bigger instead of shrinking.

Nice haul from your friend. I'd take that NOID blue in a heartbeat, too! The rocks look good. Although, some of them look back-breaking heavy to place.

I finally got Rhino Hide into a spot it seems to like. More sun than most of my garden, but protection from mid-day sun, and we've had record rainfall this spring so it's had enough water. It's not a mini for the first time in two years.

My Rhino Hide is a minature plant. It was one of the few that I bought last year that is so tiny. I've got clumps of blue mouse ears that dwarf this plant. How long does it normally take to get this plant to grow?

I'd like to know that, too, miles...

I'm glad I'm not the only one that finds it really really slow. I'll try to get a picture of it to post.
