Need help picking the right shade for this front door

Hi,

You've all been a huge help figuring out colors for the rest of the house, thank you for that. Now I just need to figure out this door! The gray will stay the same. We're keeping the shutters and painting the shutters/trim with Sherwin Williams Pure White - that includes the trim around the door.

The question is, what to paint that door? It's recessed, so a pop of color would be great. Here are the two directions I'm considering:

- A blue-green (I just can't find the right shade - can you suggest anything specific?) or

- An orange-red (one reader suggested Cayenne, which is a definite possibility, but the guy doesn't like red doors much) or

- Some other color I haven't thought of yet

The painters come Tuesday (!) so I'll be posting the After pictures soon.

An orange-ish cayenne color would really look nice with your tiles. Very pretty redo!!!!

BM Dark Royal Blue or Pacific Ocean Blue are blue and blue-green options that might look ok with the terracotta and grey & white paint. Some perspective a little farther back might help!

Here's the house from *way* back...there are plants in the front yard now, it does not look so barren as it does in this picture :)

I'm sure someone can create a rendering for you with a Cayenne door. I actually like the color of your shutters as they are now, something a little different. Would white shutters provide too much contrast?

Someone did indeed create a rendering with Cayenne, that's how I learned about that Sherwin Williams tool! It's definitely a contender, I just want a good blue-green candidate as well, and then we can compare. The tan looks seriously dreary in real life, so we are committed to Pure White repaint for that part of the house.

Loving the cayenne! While I like the teal in general, it feels like it's fighting the other colors you have going on. The cayenne really embraces the rusty tones in the fence and landscaping.

We live in a town whose university colors are burnt orange, so I decided to take a pass on the orange, as much as I like it. I'm going to paint the door a bright, warm red. (Turns out that red is a great feng shui color for the direction the house is in! Who knew?) I'm looking at Sherwin Williams 6601, Tanager, and I'll probably look at some other reds as well before making the final choice. The painters will be painting TOMORROW (if it doesn't rain) so this is happening soon!
