And it probably won't hold up. If it's a small kitchen, laminate would definitely be affordable and granite would, too, depending on your budget. "Worse than fruitcake." Love that!

Your better off reading the reviews on Amazon by people that have actually used the product. Some of the reviews are good.

"Worse than fruitcake!" LOL! I love fruitcake and make it every Christmas for those people who love it, too. Admittedly, there's only five of us, but it's always so maligned! Oh, well...

Since the house is a flip, I would hope that there are other areas that could be restored less expensively. Even in a galley kitchen, a splurge on good quality countertops will be worth the investment to potential buyers.

Why when at HD and Lowes he can get an 8' section of very nice granite look textured laminate countertop with an ogee edge for approx $125. Easier to replace vs deal with then the paint kit and in the end it will have had added real value.

I don't know if this stuff is epoxy or not, but I took a pounding on a Corian restoration removing that stuff. It was tough as nails and not a serious scratch on it.

I would look for prefabbed laminate at a big box store instead. I've seen it and it's not as great as it's made out to be. My daughter went to look at an apartment that boasted "new countertops" and that is what they used, on top of refacing crappy old cabinet boxes. You could feel the texture of the chips and it looked like a painted countertop. Even though the apartment was larger and less expensive than the one we had just looked at, she went with the one with the granite countertops instead. If he's using it as a rental, I wouldn't trust that it would hold up as well as laminate.

If it is a small kitchen, replacing the countertops won't be tremendously expensive. I would even talk with a couple of granite countertop shops and inquire if they have any suitable material they would like to discount out of their inventory.

I agree with all of these comments. I used that on a pink Formica countertop in my guest bathroom -- but if you don't roll it out JUST SO and leave brush marks like I did, someone's significant other will have a devil of a time trying to sand it off before eventually ripping the countertop out entirely!

Tell your son to go to a local fabricator and look through their bone yard for scrap stone. If you pay cash, they will fabricate the pieces and he will have something so much better than some paint on epoxy. Real stone will sell the place to the lady of the house in a second. Remember, go real or go away.

Use it if it does not work buy new counter tops. All are happy with the effort or results.

As others have said since its free you can always try it. But on a flip, time is money and that kind of play is better left to a scrap piece of countertop - for instance in a bar area with little use, not in a kitchen.

Ikea has cheap butcher block counters that hold up really well.

Margaret, I am with you on the Rustoleum products. I spend hours and hours and hours redoing a deck with their paint that should last at least 10 years. NOT. I bought a house they redid the kitchen counters with that stuff. Looked great and clean but did not hold up long.

I don't recommend IKEA butcherblock counters, especially not around water. They may have improved them in the last 10 years but I wouldn't put it in a rental unless you expect to replace them after the tenant moved out.

Last. One I used was rust-oleum painters touch to do a chair it took three cans and I primed it first. My husband was sent down for third can and came back with three saying " I got u three as I am tired going up and down to hardware so I don't have to go again" disposed of chair because. I was tired touching up. Now have 1 1/2 tins left if anyone wants!!!!!

If this is a flip, you want to sell it as soon as you can after you put it on the market; the longer it sits, the less you make on it. Dress the kitchen up with a new countertop (laminate or granite) so at least the countertop isn't an objection you have to get over. A laminate piece will cost you $125-150 depending on what you pick and maybe $200 to install if you don't use a big box store. Their installations services are a profit center, not a way to sell more product. They build in a profit for themselves as well as for the workmen they subcontract to do this.

Just because you got this for free doesn't mean you should use it in your business. Also, ask yourself how many flips/sales in a similar neighborhood have painted countertops instead of new ones.
