I purchased two crape myrtles tagged 'Sioux' that are about 5 - 6' tall right now, and I've read so many different things about it that I'm confused. I've read mature heights anywhere from 6' to 20+. There is an area at the corner of my front yard (I am on a corner lot at a 4-way intersection in a quiet rural area) where I would like to plant them, but I can't figure out what a good spacing would be, or if I need to worry about overhead power lines. I was hoping this would be a shorter variety because of the potential to reach the lines overhead. I'd like to make a large-ish kidney shaped bed with perennials or annuals planted between the Sioux and can plan to make the bed further back from the corner to avoid power lines, but I still wonder how far apart I should plant the two shrubs. I am in the Virginia Appalachians in z6. Many thanks for any advice!
