I like the lower part to have a bin or basket pull out to store various smaller items. Because it is a pain to get down on the floor to reach the back.

Anything with drawers (of different depths) will be the most convenient and accessible...if you get wire drawers they will take up the least space and can be filled with small trays to keep things separate and in order...If you have lots of other storage use this for bigger things like towels..trash can..toilet paper etc

Have you painted yet?...this may be a spot to paint a really bright and pretty color...hot pink?..aqua?...I did this to my otherwise boring walk-in closets...made it a little more fun...

These are a bit of an investment and you can find them in vinyl coated wire that aren't quite as much, but they will give you full access to your space. This one can clear your plumbing.
