Thank you! Yes, I'm sorry to have left out those details. The cabinets will all be white with a few clear glass. Three floors are all hardwood, including in the kitchen. The color is called butterscotch but we think it looks a bit reddish-brown.

The counters will be a light creamy brown. The only natural light comes from the far wall in the living room, with no natural light directly in the kitchen.

The fridge is white and we're still deciding whether to get the other appliances in white or stainless steel.

Do you have any pictures? that would help. You can surely do some color somewhere, but without seeing the details of the walls and the basics of the room, pretty hard to give any solid advice. With those colors and the ones you like, A Navy blue accent wall would be very great looking.

This is crazy details, but a dark color blue would blend well with grays, golds, oranges, etc. Just depends on how much color you want and what you have in terms of sofa color and fabric or leather?

You could go grays and beiges.

Oh wow, have to say that the picture Flo Mangan posted actually inspired me to try something out, that looks incredible!

We don't have the cabinets or flooring done yet. We will be using our current couch for a bit which is tan but will likely get a new couch within the next few years.

If I'm understanding correctly, the tiled area is the entry. Is that right? To appease the hubby, I'd stick to fairly neutral on the walls and them bring in loads of color with accessories. I like Flo's beige and grey scheme and would consider painting the X'd areas a nice deep grey. Then go wild with color in art, pillows, etc.

Yes the tiles area is the entranceway although it will be hard wood. Good idea on staying neutral on walls and doing a lot of color pop with accessories and paintings. And I also love Flo's photo with the deep browns and maybe we can incorporate some gray although I don't want to go too dark since there's only natural light from one side.

I also like the deep blue in Flo's first pic. Would it look too eclectic to have a teal or deep blue only on the inside wall of the kitchen (not visible from the living room) and then go with the browns/beige/taupe/gray throughout the rest?

BM Kendall Charcoal would be great color with tan sofa or others down the road. Or BM Van Deusen Blue would be great with tan or other similar colors. A carmel leather or grays, would look great with either color. My only reservation in this space is the lack of good lighting either natural or artificial. So that would be a consideration.

In a small space, keep the color palette simple. Just do one accent color and then use other accessories for pops of additional color. As I mentioned, low light considerations are significant. I wouldn't put a dark color in that kitchen at all. Too closed in for a dark color with minimal lighting sources. However, I might do the wall in the living room where the sofa will sit in a dark blue or gray. I just did a accent wall in a home with a dark blue leather sectional and the wall color is SW Cyberspace. A dark gray with blue undertones. They had a butterscotch TV unit against this wall and it really pops and then with a great rug it is amazing. We aren't finished yet, or I would post some photos. Might try a couple out on sample boards and see what you think. A dark wall near the window wall would be fine. Especially with a tan colored sofa against it. Have fun!

I like the richness of both the charcoal and the van deusen but also worry about lighting. We will be changing all the current lights and also adding two sconces on the wall between the windows and the kitchen. We also will have several floor lamps. But i still worry it'll be dark.

Thank you! I hadn't thought to put the accent wall on the wall adjacent to the windows where the couch will go and I really like that idea. And yes that's a great point about the kitchen being relatively small and not good light so well keep the kitchen light. Thanks for all the great ideas!
