paint colour -- help needed
As an aside, any incorporation of the colour blue (preferably darker rather than lighter, but all options are on the table) would be fantastic. (e.g. blue door, etc). We are moving quite a distance and all my daughter wants is to move to a blue house. I am inclined to want to make this dream real in some sense, if possible.

When I hear/see blue for a house color, I instantly think "beachy", although I know that is not all together correct.
Would maybe a sophisticated shade of grey with a dark blue door work?

9 years agoLove your house! I would get some blues to compare, these are Benjamin Moore from the historical collection. Hale Navy, Newburyport Blue, Van Deusen Blue, Buckland Blue with a white or offwhite trim. If you are leaving your screen door on, either have it painted the same as your entry door or keep your entry door white. The shrub is hiding your lovely window on the left, I'd move them both to the back yard and replace them with something that will stay low that keeps it's foliage through the winter.

9 years agolast modified: 9 years agoHere are some ideas for you. I think replacing the picture window with a pair of windows or a larger one with the upper mullions like the arched one left of the door would help with a more sophisticated look.

To answer your question, Janie, I guess I neither want to stand out or blend in. I want to be noticed (positively) and fit it with the neighborhood. It's a neighbourhood of a variety of styles. Next door to me is a bungalow on one side and a huge new build on the other (dark grey, I think). Across the street are older two-storey houses.
