i would trim some of the smallest roots, and repot in a gritty mix, raising the plant so that you could see just the tops/knuckles of that fine root character. you can raise it again next time you repot.

Thanks! That is sorta what I was thinking. Was surprised how deep it was planted in that little pot. My Mom had a desert rose (that I have now) that's leaves were longer and thinner than my other ones. Now I know it was a somalense too. It's huge though and poking out of the huge pot she had it in. I need to replant it too but I'm gonna need alot more gritty mix!!!

Lisa, I like your many branches and new pot, too. Wow, think of all the multiple branches you will have after your next branch-pruning! Was this plant grown from a cutting?

I bought it "as is" from our little Ace Hardware. Only had it for a few weeks but since it had no buds or blooms like the grafted ones I bought so I decided to go ahead an repot it. My others are turning out to be slow blooming pretty new flowers and I couldn't be happier! I'm hoping to be able to cross some for seeds.
