Charlotte, NC I have two issues I am wondering if anyone can help with:

1- Our massive tribe of comical anoles (small lizards) seem to have evaporated this spring. We used to tread carefully around the driveway, so as not to step on them when they were basking in the sun. Do you think the cold snap (three days below zero in late March) did them in? Anyone else notice/have an explanation for this evaporation of the population? We have no outside animals. I did see a wasp enter a weep hole in the brick at the garage opening, which was where the anoles were living. I also have a few neighbors that insist on spraying for mosquitos. I miss the anoles cheeky behavior as they never ceased to startle me, when watering, pruning or doing other mundane chores.

2-We have a slate/brick patio. Something small is using the threshold as a litter box. We have no vermin inside. I don't even have to employ pest control because we have no issues. Outside, I have seen the big tree roaches at night on the patio. We also have an enormous chipmunk population. My husband sometimes catches two a day in a Hava-hart trap. We have a bird feeder which attracts squirrels, chipmunks and obviously, birds. I cleaned up the perhaps 30 (?) tiny poops (rice size) yesterday morning. In the afternoon, many were back. Today, I probably had 50. My first thought is roaches living in some large patio planters. However, I believe they are strictly nocturnal. The concentration, seems like the insect/bug/animal is specifically coming to our threshold to relieve itself/themselves.

Any ideas?
