In my wine barrel of minis and small hostas I have one I have no idea what it is. I've had it for many years, at least 10 or 15. It was always in the ground until last year when I moved it to where it is now. The hostas are, going clockwise from Heuchera Obsidian, Tick Tock, Stiletto with a wayward poppy, Mystery, Woodland Elf, Gold Drop and Blue Mouse Ears in the middle. Researching, the only one it seems to resemble is Judy Blue Eyes which doesn't ring a bell at all. It does have the slightest white edge and a bit of wave. The leaves are only 2 inches tall, the purple flower 8 inches. It is 5 inches across. This is the biggest it's ever been.

Tracey, I'm inclined to say it's a poor performing 'Blue Mouse Ears', how do its flowers compare to the ones on the BME you have beside it?

I think you need to pay close attention to that 'Tick Tock', it looks to be virus infected. Last year I saw a lot of infected 'Tick Tock' in Lower Mainland nurseries, likely an entire TC batch that's bad. Why not post a close up picture of it in a separate thread?

Your BME looks very young. It gets round mouse ears, not those pointy long ones that it has as a juvenile. Mine is over 18" across and has been divided (cut in half) 3 times. Curious that you have had it for many years and it is only one eye. Haha. I have a Komodo Dragon that I have had for over 10 years that has leaves only about 4" long. So strange things happen. Like the wine barrel.

As the thread on PVE says, that one's never been tc'd and is not in the regular trade and rather expensive. You would have remembered the name of whatever hosta you purchased for more than $20 one would think....

Thanks for the replies! I think you might be right Pieter. Where I had it before was at the front of my property where there were lots of roots from a boulevard tree. There were a few plants that came up every year but didn't really grow. I always just thought this was some tiny hosta but that may have been the reason. This one is ahead of the BME behind it as far as blooming but I'll compare them when it does bloom. I'll see if it grows more this next year.

As far as Tick Tock, ugh. I will post a photo on another thread, thanks.
