It is super easy to clean out a stain all the way with a steamer.. my experience. It smells like nature! You can vaccum it. The rough big grass weaves are very durable and show less stains. Personally it is unwelcoming on my feet. It is nothing like a rug. It is a wonderul compliment in some situations. I think would be fantastic for a sunroom or screen porch. They last a good long time but not forever if wet often or damp. Really beautiful but if you are looking for soft feel for feet, I would get wool flat weave.

IMO jute anywhere except at an exterior entry is awful, it smells when wet, feels horrible on bare feet.

There are wool/jute blends that are just lovely, soft and easy to keep clean. If you search Pinterest, you'll see all kinds of combinations of patterns, textures, etc. We have had two over the years in our kitchen and foyer and love them..wouldn't use anything else, as we like the natural texture and look and they don't smell! Have a dog and two cats and as an fyi, cats don't bother with them.

Seagrass and sisal are the main fibers used wall to wall. Jute, because it disintegrates so easily, is used for area rugs. I've had seagrass, sisal and cocofiber installed and none of them were suited to owning a dog.

Hi Beverly.. I would just add that I don't know how a dog would be horrible because I keep our labs mostly out within the farm yard most times, but wow.. cats! Like a scratch pad!!! Would never sigh.. rattan and weaves..

I would not use that and especially not in a living room. Layering rugs is fine, but use a nicer material.

You can get a wool rug that mimics jute... Jute can be very dirty and drop a lot of dirt... been there and done that :)
